The International Gaming Awards for 2018 have finally come to a close and dusted off a year of surprising innovation and great things happening within the gambling industry.
They took place in London on the eve of the ICE and suppliers across the industry have found joy and disappointment as they were nominated for certain awards. We have a full list of operators who won something that night and we wish to give you all the details for all the night’s events.
Yggdrasil Wins Innovator Of The Year
The International Gaming Awards kicked off to a great start when Yggdrasil won Innovative Supplier of the Year award. Honestly, we thought this would go to NetEnt but we suppose we can’t have everything. Still, the award is well-deserved! It is the most sought-after prize and the International Gaming Awards and isn’t anything to be snuffed at. We think Yggdrasil has earned it due to their new and innovative content throughout 2017.
They’ve already bagged a fair few awards in previous years along with the Gaming Software Supplier award which is also pretty damn impression. Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO over of Yggdrasil, said, “We always strive to be the best, and it’s always an honour to be recognised by our industry peers.” They have every right to be happy about this as winning anything at the International Gaming Awards is no joke!
Microgaming Wins Mobile Product Award
Now we come to the Mobile Product award section of the International Gaming Awards, and that prize goes to Microgaming. They take the crown for developing the first every casino software all the way back in 2004 and have remained at the top of the industry until this day. They are most certainly worthy of this win and we could think of no one else to get it.
And let’s remember that Microgaming still has the record for the largest jackpot from any mobile device standing up to nearly 8 million euros! Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said, “We are very proud to win the award for Mobile Product. We predicted that mobile gaming would be the future back in 2004 and we haven’t looked back”. They have every right to be proud of this and we will certainly follow them into the future!
Play ‘N Go Wins Slot Provider Of The Year
Finally, we reach the third most important International Gaming Awards win and that is Play ‘N Go for Slot Provider of the Year. We’re not surprised one bit that this has happened as 2017 has been quite a phenomenal time for Play ‘N Go. Online slots a-plenty, they have taken the award for the second year running and keep pumping out more and more content every year.
Judges were seriously impressed by the suppliers of each category and their strong output with innovative games that continue to shape the industry. Vibrant graphics, stunning features and unique designs all talk of a trend that will inevietbly prove good for everyone overall.
Johan Tornqvist, CEO, Play’n GO, commented, “This is the perfect start for what we expect to be a very constructive week at ICE. Producing quality slots is what we’re known for, and although we’ve greatly expanded our product range of late, this will remain a key priority for us for the foreseeable future.”
